Lesko Concerned with National Debt

Washington, December 28, 2020 | Rachel Harris (202-417-0746)

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) released the following statement regarding H.R. 9051:

“At this time, I could not in good conscience vote for additional dollars without the offer of offsets and spending cuts to other programs, like foreign aid, to pay for these checks. We cannot continue to bankrupt our nation without a plan to address the issue down the line.

I recently voted to give help to small businesses and their workers, and offer financial help for the unemployed who, through no fault of their own, lost their jobs during the pandemic. Simply adding another almost half a trillion dollars to our national debt with no plan for true recovery is not the answer.”
