Congresswoman Debbie Lesko’s Bill to Protect Medicare and Social Security Supported by American Association of Senior Citizens

The 60 Plus Association has endorsed Congresswoman Debbie Lesko’s legislation to protect Social Security and Medicare. In July, Congresswoman Lesko introduced H.Res. 1026, a resolution recognizing Medicare and Social Security as important programs that must be protected for current enrollees and strengthened for the future. Following the 60 Plus Association’s endorsement of her bill, Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) released this statement:

“I am so grateful to have the support of the 60 Plus Association for my legislation to protect Social Security and Medicare,” said Congresswoman Lesko.  “My work on behalf of senior citizens in Congress continues to be recognized by national organizations. I am committed to ensuring these important programs remain in place for seniors in the Eighth Congressional District and across the nation.”

“[Congresswoman Lesko’s] resolution states precisely what 60 Plus Association has been working towards, we must preserve Social Security and Medicare for today’s seniors and reject any changes to Medicare or Social Security that reduce benefits for those enrolled as well as for the rising retirees,” said James L. Martin, Chairman and Founder of 60 Plus Association.   “We want to ensure its permanent longevity and the allowance for seniors and future seniors to retire in confidence. We have seen the Social Security and Medicare Boards of Trustees Report of 2018 and they have recommended that lawmakers act sooner rather than later to address the shortfalls of the system, but it must not be on the backs of those who have paid into the system all their lives.”
