Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 6172, the USA FREEDOM Reauthorization Act, to reauthorize and reform the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) released the following statement:
“Today I joined Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan and Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Devin Nunes in supporting important FISA reforms. This Republican proposal matches the President’s desire to reauthorize expiring provisions necessary to defend the United States and impose significant reforms to FISA to restore accountability so that abuses like those against Carter Page and the Trump campaign never happen again. This is a step in the right direction, and I am hopeful we can do more when Republicans regain the majority in the House.”
