Today, Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) visited three schools in Arizona’s Eighth Congressional District. Congresswoman Lesko toured Luke Elementary School in Glendale, Legacy Traditional School in Glendale, and Universal Technical Institute in Avondale. 

“Every student in Arizona deserves access to a high-quality education that meets their individual needs,” said Congresswoman Lesko. “Our local schools know their students best. That is why I introduced legislation in Congress to get Washington, D.C. bureaucrats out of Arizona schools and allow education policy decisions to be made at the local level. I will continue to work with local leaders and education advocates to do more to improve education for all Arizona students.”

In June, Congresswoman Lesko introduced H.R. 6259, the Make Education Local Act, to allow individual states to submit their own education policy plan to the Secretary of Education to free up dollars so that funding will go directly to students and teachers instead of being spent to comply with federal regulators.

Congresswoman Lesko began Thurday with a visit to Luke Elementary School in Glendale, Arizona.

Congresswoman Lesko then headed to Legacy Traditional School, a charter school, in Glendale, Arizona.

To conclude the tour, Congresswoman Lesko visited the Universal Technical Institute, a postsecondary technical school, in Avondale, Arizona.
