Press Releases

This week, Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) launched a three-day business tour across Arizona’s Eighth Congressional District. Congresswoman Lesko visited small and large businesses in the district to discuss how reduced federal regulations, pro-growth policies, and historic tax reform legislation have impacted both business owners and employees.

“I met with a number of local businesses this week to see the real-world impact of policies passed by Congress. After meeting with business owners, managers, and front-line employees, it is clear that reduced regulations and tax reform have greatly benefitted businesses in Arizona and led to a booming economy,” said Congresswoman Lesko.

Congresswoman Lesko began the three-day business tour on Monday with a visit to Sub-Zero Wolf in Goodyear, Arizona. After a tour of the manufacturing plant, Congresswoman Lesko discussed the impact that federal regulations—specifically from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Agency—have on their business.

Congresswoman Lesko then headed to Sutter Masonry, Inc. in El Mirage, Arizona to meet with Mike Sutter, President, Colleen Sutter, CFO, Aimee Sutter, Director of Business Relations, and Adam Waltho, General Manager. This family-owned small business employs approximately 100 people. Because of historic tax reform legislation, hourly wages were increased and over $50,000 in bonuses were distributed to employees.

On Tuesday, Congresswoman Lesko visited the Amazon facility in Phoenix, Arizona. Amazon employs over 6,000 people in the greater Phoenix area and more than 19,000 small and medium businesses in the state use Amazon’s services.

Congresswoman Lesko concluded the AZ-08 Business Tour on Wednesday with a visit to TriYoung, Inc. in Peoria, Arizona. TriYoung is a woman-owned small business that provides a number of IT services for county and state governments and other business support solutions. Julie Young, President of TriYoung, Inc., plans to offer her employees raises and increased vacation hours due to a lower federal tax burden after the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

“After meeting with small and large businesses in Arizona’s Eighth District this week, I have seen first-hand the positive economic impacts that the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and reduced regulations have had on area businesses,” continued Lesko. “Business is good in Arizona. In Congress, I will continue to support legislation that will allow businesses to continue to thrive and further grow our economy.”
