On Thursday, Congresswoman Debbie Lesko reintroduced H.Res. 59, a resolution recognizing Medicare and Social Security as important programs that must be protected for current enrollees and strengthened for the future. This legislation has been endorsed by the 60 Plus Association and the Association of Mature American Citizens.

“Social Security and Medicare are essential programs for senior citizens living on fixed incomes,” said Congresswoman Lesko. “Congress must fulfill the promise made to America’s seniors by protecting these important programs for current beneficiaries and strengthening them for future generations.”

“[Congresswoman Lesko’s] resolution states precisely what 60 Plus Association has been working towards, we must preserve Social Security and Medicare for today’s seniors and reject any changes to Medicare or Social Security that reduce benefits for those enrolled as well as for the rising retirees,” said James L. Martin, Chairman and Founder of 60 Plus Association.   “We want to ensure its permanent longevity and the allowance for seniors and future seniors to retire in confidence. We have seen the Social Security and Medicare Boards of Trustees Report of 2018 and they have recommended that lawmakers act sooner rather than later to address the shortfalls of the system, but it must not be on the backs of those who have paid into the system all their lives.”
