Lesko and Veasey Introduce Bipartisan F-35 Resolution
March 4, 2019
Today, Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (R-AZ) and Congressman Marc Veasey (D-TX) introduced a House Resolution recognizing the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program as a critical component of America’s national security that Congress must continue to support. With 40 original cosponsors, this bipartisan resolution reaffirms the F-35’s vital role for maintaining air superiority to preserve global security and stability. The Joint Strike Fighter Caucus has also endorsed this bill.
“Luke Air Force base is the largest F-35 operating base in the world, training pilots from around the world right here in Arizona,” said Congresswoman Lesko. “The F-35 is imperative to Luke Air Force Base, the U.S. military, and to our national security. I am encouraged by all of my colleagues who agree that the F-35 should be supported for years to come.”
“The F-35 Resolution introduced today redoubles Congress’ commitment to the F-35 program and the importance of bolstering and maintaining our national security and the security of our allies,” said Congressman Veasey. “I’m proud that Dallas-Fort Worth is home to the development and production of F-35s, and continue to believe in the mission of this vital program.”
Background: Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) remains a strong proponent of Luke Air Force Base and the F-35 program from her time in the Arizona State Legislature and now as U.S. Congresswoman for Arizona’s Eighth Congressional District. For Fiscal Year 2019, she voted in support of legislation to appropriate funding for 93 additional F-35 aircraft as well as the largest pay raise for our troops in nine years.
