Press Releases

WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) and 26 other members of the U.S. House of Representatives sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray raising concerns about the relationship between Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA-15) and suspected Chinese spy, Fang Fang or Christine Fang. The members also requested a briefing about the agency’s investigation into the matter.

“The more we learn of the relationship between Mr. Swalwell and Ms. Fang, the more apparent it becomes that this relationship could have had sweeping implications for U.S. national security,” said Congresswoman Lesko. “My colleagues and I would like to know if the FBI investigated this matter, what they found, and what, if any, counterintelligence opportunities were lost when she fled the country. We must investigate this matter and ensure this does not happen again.”

Lesko was joined by Representatives Ralph Abraham (LA-05), Brian Babin (TX-36), Dan Bishop (NC-09), Michael Burgess (TX-26), Ben Cline (VA-06), Jeff Duncan (SC-03), Ron Estes (KS-04), Mike Garcia (CA-25), Paul Gosar (AZ-04), Mark Green (TN-07), Glenn Grothman (WI-06), Bill Johnson (OH-06), Fred Keller (PA-12), Mike Kelly (PA-16), Peter King (NY-02), Steve King (IA-04), Doug Lamborn (CO-05), Brian Mast (FL-18), Dan Meuser (PA-09), David McKinley (WV-01), Ralph Norman (SC-05), Scott Perry (PA-10), Tom Rice (SC-07), John Rose (TN-06), Greg Steube (FL-17), and Michael Waltz (FL-06) in sending the letter.
