WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) released the following statement after her vote to agree with the objection to electors from the state of Arizona:
“After much deliberation and consultation with constitutional attorneys, I decided to agree with the objection to Arizona's electors. Similar to the arguments made in the amicus brief I signed onto in Texas v. Pennsylvania, et al., Arizona violated state law, and thus the United States Constitution, as detailed in the opinion from the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. In line with upholding my oath to follow the U.S. Constitution, I voted to agree with the objection to Arizona’s electors.
The events today at the U.S. Capitol were tragic and disturbing. Civil discourse and passionate debate have a place in our democracy, but violence and anarchy are never the answer. Please join me in praying for our nation.”
