WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) sent a letter to President Joseph R. Biden demanding answers about his decision to transfer funds from COVID-19 testing to cover the cost of housing illegal immigrants.
“Reports indicate that President Biden has diverted over $2 billion in funds originally allocated to urgent COVID-19 related needs to cover the cost of housing illegal immigrants. Now, as Americans are struggling to find COVID-19 tests and grappling with the aggressive spread of the Omicron variant, Americans deserve answers,” said Congresswoman Lesko. “The shortage of tests, along with the severe backlog of samples that need testing, puts American lives at risk and the blame can be placed squarely on the actions of this administration who chose to put the needs of illegal immigrants ahead of the American people.”
Lesko was joined in sending the letter by Representatives Gus Bilirakis (R-FL-12), Dan Bishop (R-NC-09), Ken Calvert (R-CA-42), Ben Cline (R-VA-06), Mike Gallagher (R-WI-08), Bob Gibbs (R-OH-07), Andy Harris (R-MD-01), Jody Hice (R-GA-10), Doug Lamborn (R-CO-05), David McKinley (R-WV-01), John Moolenaar (R-MI-04), Bill Posey (R-FL-08), John Rose (R-TN-06), and Tom Tiffany (R-WI-07).
