WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) introduced a resolution to recognize Medicare and Social Security as an important benefit that must be protected for current enrollees and strengthened for the future. Lesko introduced this resolution in the 115th, 116th, and 117th Congresses.
“I am proud to once again introduce this important resolution to protect Social Security and Medicare for our seniors,” said Congresswoman Lesko following the introduction of the resolution. “Protecting this essential benefit for seniors in Arizona and across our nation has always been one of my top priorities in Congress, and I will continue to work to strengthen these programs for future generations.”
Since 1935 and 1965 respectively, Social Security and Medicare have been essential for our nation’s senior citizens. This resolution affirms the U.S. House of Representatives’ obligation to fulfill promises made to seniors, rejects changes to these critical programs that diminish benefits for current enrollees, commits to strengthen and preserve these programs, and supports efforts to reduce waste, fraud, and abuse throughout these programs.
