WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce advanced two bills sponsored by Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08), H.R. 6346, the Advancing Nuclear Regulatory Oversight Act; and H.R. 6192, the Hands Off Our Home Appliances Act

“I am thrilled that these two commonsense bills have passed out of committee,” said Congresswoman Lesko. “I am working every day to leave our state and nation in a better place than when we found it, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure that these proposals are approved by the full House of Representatives.”

The Hands Off Our Home Appliances Act prohibits the U.S. Department of Energy from prescribing any new or amended energy efficiency standards for a product that are not technologically feasible and economically justified.

The Advancing Nuclear Regulatory Oversight Act directs the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to submit a congressional report that outlines any changes the agency made to its processes or procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic and explains how the agency will become more efficient in the future. This legislation was passed as part of H.R. 6544, the Atomic Energy Advancement Act.

These pieces of legislation now head to the Floor of the U.S. House of Representatives for a vote.
