WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) reintroduced the Women’s Bill of Rights to affirm the importance of acknowledging women and their unique and distinguishing characteristics and recognize their contributions to our nation. Lesko introduced this legislation alongside Rep. Diana Harshbarger (R-TN-01) and Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL-15).

“Protecting women’s rights should not be a partisan issue, yet the left cannot even define the word ‘woman,’” said Congresswoman Lesko. “I am proud to once again introduce this important legislation to affirm the basic biological truth that men and women are different and safeguard the rights of women in our laws.”

“I am proud to support the Women’s Bill of Rights to distinguish a biological fact from far-Left fiction,” said Congresswoman Harshbarger. “The ‘wokeism’ culture of denying the scientific differences between a man and a woman squanders the progress former generations of women fought so hard to achieve. This resolution serves as an answer for radical politicians having trouble answering the question ‘what is a woman?’; it’s as simple as following the science. As a woman serving in Congress, it is a personal mission of mine to ensure our future generations aren’t put in danger and stripped of opportunities just for being born female.”

“I will never be afraid to speak out in defense of our daughters,” said Congresswoman Miller. “They need adults in leadership positions who are not afraid of being criticized by radical leftists. The answer to the question “What is a woman?” has been clear for the entire history of our civilization, and it has not changed from Genesis. This is why, today we are reintroducing the Women’s Bill of Rights in order to legally define what it means to be a woman. I am doing this on behalf of my five daughters, and all women.”

“We can’t fight sex discrimination if we can’t agree on what it means to be a woman,” said Jennifer Braceras, Director of the Independent Women’s Law Center. “And we can’t collect accurate data regarding public health, medicine, education, crime, and the economic status of women if we redefine sex to mean ‘gender identity.’ At Independent Women’s Law Center, we know what a woman is. Thankfully, Representative Lesko does too.”

The bill acknowledges the biological differences in men and women, highlights the importance of differentiating between men and women in law for the purposes of protecting sex-segregated activities and organizations, and affirms the importance of using “mother” and “father” in written law to protect families and bolster parents.

Lesko, Harshbarger, and Miller were joined by Representatives Robert Aderholt (R-AL-04), Andy Biggs (R-AZ-05), Andrew Clyde (R-GA-09), Jeff Duncan (R-SC-01), Virginia Foxx (R-NC-05), Michael Guest (R-MS-03), Harriet Hageman (WY-AL), Kevin Hern (R-OK-01), Ronny Jackson (R-TX-13), Ralph Norman (R-SC-05), Andrew Ogles (R-TN-05), Burgess Owens (R-UT-04), George Santos (R-NY-03), Claudia Tenney (R-NY-24), and Randy Weber (R-TX-14) in introducing this legislation.
