Recovering from one full year of Biden crises
By Congresswoman Debbie Lesko

After one year of one-party rule, what have Democrats accomplished?

Grocery prices, gas prices, and utility prices are up, shelves are bare, the border is wide open, human and sex trafficking are rampant, and fentanyl is flooding across our borders, killing thousands of people. Our nation is facing rising crime rates, children have been forced out of the classroom, and concerned parents have been deemed domestic terrorists by our government.

And what are President Joe Biden and the Democrats in Congress doing to solve these real-life crises that people across the country are facing? They are trying to rig future elections in their favor. They are trying to fund their own campaigns with taxpayer dollars.

All this and Biden called his first-year report card “pretty good.” That is pure fiction, and everyone knows it, as Biden's dismal poll ratings indicate.

Biden’s first year in office has been filled with foreign policy blunders and manufactured crisis after manufactured crisis.

One thing is clear: Putting America last is the priority for Biden and the Democrats.

We need to ask what type of country we want to leave for the next generation. Do we want a country where children can’t go to school and people are forced to show their papers in order to eat at a restaurant? A world where America’s adversaries are emboldened and threaten us while encroaching on our long-standing allies?

Or do we want a country where we have the freedom to choose what we inject into our bodies? A country with low taxes, low inflation, good-paying jobs, and stocked grocery store shelves? Where the border is secure and authorities are cracking down on crime, illegal immigration, human trafficking, and the drug trade? A country where people who have two different feelings about COVID-19 can still be friends? A world where there are peace deals in the Middle East, not war? A world where people aren’t left behind?

A government that uses an emergency to take executive power will continue creating emergencies to take more power.

As Ronald Reagan once said, “Freedom is a fragile thing, and it's never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by way of inheritance. It must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. And those in world history who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again.”

It is going to take a lot of work, and a lot of courage, to get America back on the right track, but my Republican colleagues and I are prepared to put in that work for the people.

The world is safer, more prosperous, and more peaceful when America is strong. America deserves better than being put last.
