Lesko Leads Letter to FEMA Requesting Additional Vaccines for AZ
February 5, 2021
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) led a letter to Acting Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Robert J. Fenton, Jr., requesting an emergency vaccine allotment for the state of Arizona. Arizona Representatives Andy Biggs (AZ-05), Paul Gosar (AZ-04), and David Schweikert (AZ-06) joined Lesko on the letter.
“My office has heard from Governor Ducey, the Arizona Department of Health Services, and constituents about the need for additional vaccines in our state,” said Congresswoman Lesko. “As fast as the state can get the vaccines, they are getting them into the arms of Arizonans. I urge the Biden Administration to grant this request so that anyone who wants a vaccine can get a vaccine.”
The letter follows a request from Arizona Governor Doug Ducey and Arizona Department of Health Services Director Dr. Cara Christ that was denied by FEMA. The letter requests 300,000 vaccine doses immediately and an increase of 300,000 doses in the weekly allocation of vaccines to the state from the federal government.
