WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) released the following statement after her vote in opposition to House Democrats’ resolution requiring Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Donald J. Trump from office:

“With this resolution, Democrats are demanding Vice President Pence invoke the 25th Amendment and take over as president. It is clear they have full faith in the vice president to act as president. Yet, the very demand they made in their resolution insinuates Vice President Pence cannot be trusted to make the decision to invoke the 25th Amendment on his own if he deems it necessary. Their resolution calls into question the core of his judgement. If you trust someone to lead our nation, shouldn’t you also trust them to take the steps necessary to safeguard it if needed? Democrats cannot have it both ways, they cannot trust Vice President Pence to lead our nation, but not trust him to use his judgement in invoking the 25th.”
