Press Releases

Since the government shutdown began on December 22, 2018, Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) has voted three times to immediately pay federal workers impacted by the shutdown, cosponsored H.J.Res.18 to prohibit Members of Congress from receiving compensation for any period during which a Government shutdown is in effect, and requested her salary to be withheld until the government reopens. Congresswoman Lesko released the following statement:

"I have voted three times now to pay federal workers, cosponsored legislation that prevents Congress from getting paid during shutdowns, and have asked for my salary to be withheld during the shutdown.  Unfortunately, Democrats blocked the federal workers from getting paid and haven't brought the no pay for Congress bill to the floor for a vote. Speaker Pelosi needs to come to the negotiating table and end this shutdown now."
