WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) sent a letter to Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm demanding the department reconsider recent decisions regarding dishwasher efficiency due to their impact on working families and seniors. Lesko was joined by the Ranking Member of the Committee on Energy and Commerce Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) in sending the letter.

“With their burdensome federal regulations, the Biden Administration continues to put unnecessary stress on America’s working families and seniors. By revoking the Trump-era rule for residential dishwashers, the Biden Administration will limit consumer choice and eliminate useful products that can help people,” said Congresswoman Lesko. “Consumers should have the ability to choose faster and more effective dishwashers and not be forced to bear the cost of burdensome federal regulations. At a time when Americans are already facing record inflation, they should not be required to fork out more money for a new dishwasher.”

Earlier this year, the Department of Energy proposed revoking the October 30, 2020 final rule for residential dishwashers which provided consumers with additional choice in the residential dishwasher market.
