Press Releases

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) led the Arizona Congressional Delegation in a letter to President Joseph R. Biden requesting his administration give full and fair consideration to all proposals on aircraft to replace the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter and encouraging the United States Army to reach a timely decision on this vital national security program.

“Our nation is facing growing national security threats from our adversaries including Russia and China,” said Congresswoman Lesko. “I am pleased to join my colleagues from Arizona to urge President Biden to ensure our military servicemembers have modern, up-to-date equipment and aircraft so that they are adequately prepared to take on future conflicts and successfully compete against our adversaries.”

The UH-60 Black Hawk has been the premiere medium-lift utility helicopter for the U.S. Army since 1979. In order to adapt to an ever-changing mission environment, the U.S. Army created the Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft Program in 2019 to develop a successor to the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter that would be able to meet its current standards and requirements. The U.S. Army is currently evaluating proposals for the replacement.

Lesko was joined by Senators Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) and Representatives Andy Biggs (R-AZ-05), Ruben Gallego (D-AZ-07), Paul Gosar (R-AZ-04), Ann Kirkpatrick (D-AZ-02), Tom O’Halleran (D-AZ-01), David Schweikert (R-AZ-06), and Greg Stanton (D-AZ-09) in sending the letter.
