WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) sent a letter to Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm asking that she delay the deadline for implementing the regional Southeast and Southwest HVAC minimum efficiency performance requirements from January 1, 2023, to July 1, 2023.

“The Biden Administration has instituted an unworkable timeline for its new HVAC efficiency requirements that will harm Arizona builders” said Congresswoman Lesko. “This deadline does not allow for a buffer period for builders to install existing and in-stock HVAC systems while they wait for the compliant systems to arrive, which will halt current construction projects. I am urging the Biden Administration to change the deadline to provide builders with the time they need to implement these new requirements.”

Lesko was joined by Representatives Andy Biggs (AZ-05), Paul Gosar (AZ-04), Tom O'Halleran (AZ-01), and David Schweikert (AZ-06) in sending the letter.
